Brexit guidance

While the precise details of the UK’s departure from the European Union have yet to be finalised, some degree of change is likely for BALI members from January 2021, even if they are not directly involved in the trade of goods or travel to the EU as part of their job role. 

The BALI website has now been updated to include a section on Brexit, which highlights the changes likely to effect BALI members. While the EU Withdrawal Act ensures continuity in most areas from January 2021, other areas of legislation - which relied on collaboration between EU and the UK - such as management of chemicals and regulation of equipment and machinery, will evolve to reflect the UK’s more independent nature. Trade of plants and plant material will change significantly, and guidance for adapting to these changes is also included.
