Projects
Exchange Square
Exchange Square is a major new public park in the City of London, transformed from an ageing corporate square into a bucolic landscape with a four-fold increase in green space. The park spans 5000m2 and is suspended above the tracks of Liverpool Street Station. British Land appointed Maylim as the Principal Contractor, who took on full design responsibility and appointed consultants DSDHA and Arup to progress technical details. As part of the scheme, Maylim collaborated with the local communities to extend the positive impacts of the scheme.
Greenford Quay
Greenford Quay Phase 1B consists of the central square, which is at the heart of the development, and a canal side amphitheatre. The amphitheatre and water fountains have already become a popular attraction within the community. Key aspects of Maylim’s remit included; extensive civil and structural design and installation, water features, external lighting, CCTV and data systems, linear and below ground drainage, paving and cladding detailing. The luscious soft landscaping scheme features mature and semi-mature trees, herbaceous planting, turf and wildflower meadows.
Greenwich Waterfront
Greenwich Waterfront is a new public promenade stretching 1km from the Peninsula, alongside the River Thames. As Principal Contractor for this £10.5 million scheme, Maylim were heavily involved in the design development of the full design and build. This included extensive civil engineering design, deep drainage, gas, water and district heating, LV and comms. We also completed the full detailed landscape design including paving, benches, canopy structures, as well as the soft landscaping elements.
Rathbone Square
Rathbone Square is one of Central London's largest mixed-use development in recent years. The 1800m2 publicly-accessible garden lies at the heart of a new residential and commercial development designed by Make Architects for client GPE. Maylim's scope of works included; full design development of all elements - water features, planters, structures, cladding, waterproofing, build-ups, soft landscaping and street furniture. Rathbone Square won Maylim a Principal Award at the BALI National Landscape Awards 2018.
Battersea Power Station - Phase One
Battersea Power Station is one of London's most iconic buildings. Although it ceased generating electricity in 1983 it has remained one of the city's best known landmarks. As part of the first phase of it's major redevelopment, Maylim worked on Circus Village West and the first of the residential schemes. The central courtyard was finished with terrazzo for a luxurious finish and sophisticated modern feel, complementing the bespoke street furniture. We used high quality natural stone and brick paving throughout and installed bespoke water features.
Gas Holder Park
Maylim was appointed to transform the land within and surrounding this historic Victorian gas holder structure into a public park. Maylim's remit on this project included the circular lawn which sits inside the original and refurbished gas holder frame, granite work, feature planting, construction of footpaths on either side of the carriageway, high-spec temporary finishes to footpaths, new road surfacing, and a mixture of yorkstone paving and clay pavers intercepted with lawn and planting beds.
Paddington Central - Phase 2
Paddington Central Phase Two is a BALI Award winning project for Hard Landscaping (Non-Domestic) over £1.5 million. Working as principal contractor for British Land, Maylim completed work to the south section of Kingdom Street, the library and games room and Kingdom square. The key focus for this project was to utilise the space available as well creating benefit for the local community and residents of the surrounding offices. The outcome is a colourful, bright and open public realm which can be enjoyed by all.
One Tower Bridge
One Tower Bridge was Maylim's first entry into the BALI Awards and it won the Grand Award at the 2017 ceremony. Our remit on this project included the construction of all external works such as lighting, irrigation and drainage, concrete works and build-ups. We also completed the installation of the attenuation system, concrete support walls for all cladded planters, water features, living wall and paved areas. The star of this high-specification project is the bespoke clock water feature, installed within the beautifully landscaped boulevard.
