Soft Landscape Specialist Peter Bassett receives RHS 40 Years Service Award for his contribution to Horticulture and Landscape Sector

Peter Bassett, Managing Director of accredited contractors Goddards (Landscape Contractors) Limited, has been awarded the prestigious RHS 40 Year Service Award for service and contributions within the horticulture and landscape industries.

Secretly nominated by his family and colleagues, Peter was immensely proud and surprised to receive his medal and certificate.

“It was very much a surprise, but very well received! I consider myself lucky to have forged a successful career in an industry I love and have had the opportunity to meet and make strong bonds with clients, colleagues, suppliers, and industry associates over the last 40 years. My time at Goddards has seen growth, success, and industry recognition – and this one gives me that extra special buzz of personal pride.”

From his academic achievements at Sparsholt College to his role at the helm of one of the country’s leading soft landscape contractors, Peter has steered his landscape career to the highest level. Steering the highly successful Landscape Construction company, he leads the Goddards team to regularly achieve BALI National Landscape Principal Awards for the delivery of prestigious landscapes across the South East – with the 2025 award for Union Park at Wembley adding yet another trophy to the collection.

Peter reached his 40-year milestone in August 2025, the majority of which was rooted within Goddards in Operations, Contract Management and latterly as Managing Director since 2017.

As part of the vastly experienced and long-servicing Goddards team, Peter oversees soft landscape works from sourcing plants, trees and nursery stock across UK and Europe to the operational direction of the business across the sales, project, works, grounds maintenance and landscape teams.
