Providing the tools for a greener future

Committed to playing its part in a greener future, Agrovista Amenity’s sustainability journey will continue to evolve over time: for now, its focus is on setting a good example and providing customers with the tools they need to achieve their environmental objectives.

Just recently the company launched a new range of biodegradable tree and hedge guards to enhance its credentials in this area, they also revealed that it has set out a new range of measures and commitments designed to improve the health of the planet. In fact, the company has already started its journey towards replacing its entire delivery fleet with electric powered vehicles because it was recognised that the use of diesel was the company’s biggest CO2 emission.

Agrovista Amenity is also encouraging its customers to join them on the journey and explore more sustainable ways of working. It is for this reason that the company is working towards providing a wide range of eco-friendly solutions. In reflecting on topics such as CO2 emissions, tree planting, wildlife habitat development and sustainable sourcing, Agrovista Amenity is ensuring its supply chain reflects its ethical and environmental standards.

WhiptecBio tree and hedge guards are made in the UK and from recycled material, they are 100% sustainable, biodegradable and compostable. Developed with expert arboriculturists over the last 14 years and have been successfully trialled in a range of scenarios.

The movement to biodegradable alternatives will have a positive impact on the environment. This is largely due to many of them being of single-use and not always being removed once the tree or hedge has established which leaves microplastic pollutions.

The new WhiptecBio range offers a great solution as they provide all the benefits of plastic tree guards such as improved establishment and protection from grazing animals, whilst also being kinder to the environment.

The average lifespan of the WhiptecBio range is around three to four years, due to the product containing a natural additive that makes the guards biodegradable and compostable. Flat packed and easy to install, the guards are secured with a cane, negating the need for plastic ties.

An additional benefit of the product degrading naturally is there is no need to remove the guards, easing the burden on landscape management and improving workload efficiency.

Furthermore, the WhiptecBio tree guards are incredibly important to trees planted near watercourses, as they reduce the risk of plastics entering the water and damaging our ecosystem.

Something as simple as improving the use of tree guards will be a considerable contribution and is just a part of a long journey for Agrovista Amenity; a journey that they would love you to be a part of.
