Legislation strengthened to protect against Emerald ash borer

01 Dec 2021 | BALI Member News

Regulatory controls on ash wood will be extended to apply to all third country imports of sawn wood, wood chips and bark.  The Forestry Commission must be pre-notified of all imports of ash wood and bark from any European countries, and consignments must be accompanied by phytosanitary certificates issued by the country of origin.

Imports will only be permitted under certain conditions e.g. originating in a pest free area or having treatment such as ionising irradiation.

Update on transmission from eDomero to Plant Health Export Service (PHES)

From Tuesday 30th November 2021 exporters of plant products (eDomero ref: HH91) or plant produce (eDomero ref: PHE36) will no longer be able to use eDomero to make export applications.  Exporters should register with PHES to avoid any disruption to exports.

Guidance material on how to register with PHES is available on the Plant Health Portal; click the link in the Further reading section of this document.

Exports from Scotland are advised to continue using existing procedures.
