Landscape Academy to hold mental health seminar

The Landscape Academy will be holding a one hour seminar on Mental Health in the Workplace in conjunction with Mental Health First Aid England.


According to research conducted by MHFA, mental health can have a serious impact on businesses: 

  • 1 in 6 workers will experience depression, anxiety or problems relating to stress at any one time

  • There were 602,000 cases of work-related stress, depression, or anxiety in 2018/19 in the UK

  • In 2018/19, stress, depression or anxiety were responsible for 44% of all cases of work-related ill health, and 54% of all working days lost due to health issues in UK

  • Every year it costs business £1,300 per employee whose mental health needs are unsupported

  • Mental ill health is responsible for 72 million working days lost and costs £34.9 billion each year (note: different studies will estimate the cost of mental ill health in other ways)


The presentation will cover:

  • What is health?

  • What is mental health?

  • Understanding mental health and recovery as a continuum

  • Factors that influence mental health and recovery

  • Stress and stigma

  • Early warning signs of distress

  • Barriers to help-seeking

  • How to begin a conversation

  • Take Ten Together Toolkit

  • Where you can go to develop knowledge, skills and improve your confidence further
