The University of York is embarking on an exciting journey with its "Campus for the Future" masterplan, and a standout feature is the completion of a stunning 1480-bed student accommodation project. This flagship scheme, valued at £130 million, has breathed new life into the Heslington East Campus, starting its transformation back in November 2019.

Strategically nestled to enhance the connection between Campus East and Campus West, this project offers students breathtaking views of the serene lake and lush parkland surroundings. Not only does it cater to the growing global student community, but it also plays a vital role in the university's recruitment strategy.

Accredited Contractor, Palmer Landscapes, has been awarded the contract and has truly brought the outdoor spaces to life. With tens of thousands of shrubs, and hundreds of trees planted. Plus an additional 10,000 square meters of seeding and turfing, they've crafted vibrant green areas for students to revel in.

In collaboration with Palmer Landscapes, an Accredited Contractor, Green-tech has played a pivotal role. Providing everything from machine round tree stakes to state-of-the-art MONA irrigation systems - these tools have aided in the project's success. Their innovative solutions, such as the Mona Relief Tree Irrigation, guarantee the trees' well-being by delivering essential water straight to their roots. With a proactive approach to tree care, Green-tech's contributions ensure thriving growth for the newly planted greenery.

Palmer Landscapes Contract Manager Sam Isles comments:

“Green-tech was one of our main suppliers for this project. We have a strong relationship with them. They stocked all the products we needed and provided materials on a quick turnaround timescale. All planting materials were delivered on time and gave that professional finish that we pride ourselves on. The seed specification we were working too was very detailed so being able to tap into their expertise was invaluable and helped us so much.”

The main contractor GRAHAM Building has won the GB & Rol New Build Project of the Year, above £2.5m’ accolade at the CEF 2023 Excellence Awards. The judging panel agreed GRAHAM's work on this project was a “remarkable achievement.”
