Barcham Trees achieve Plant Healthy status

14 Dec 2020 | BALI Member News

Barcham Trees are delighted to announce that the nursery has been awarded a Certificate of Conformity from the Plant Healthy Accreditation Scheme. The Certificate of Conformity allows the nursery to display the plant healthy logo and endorses the strict biosecurity measures in operation at the nursery.

The Certificate was awarded on 13 November following a rigorous independent audit of the nursery’s biosecurity policies and working practices carried out on behalf of the Plant Healthy Scheme by auditors from ‘Grown in Britain’

Barcham Trees is the first major grower of advanced nursery stock in the UK to be awarded the Certificate.

Keith Sacre, Arboriculture and Urban Forestry Director at Barcham Trees commented:

We are delighted at receiving the certification confirming that our biosecurity practices pass strict independent external audit. Ever since the company published a biosecurity policy statement in 2014 Barcham Trees has been prominent in promoting best practice in respect of plant health.

This award is recognition and confirmation of the measures taken to ensure Barcham Trees are supplied into the landscape in a bio-secure way and is an independent reassurance to clients that plant health is central to the nursery’s business activities.

I hope this award prompts others to follow the lead Barcham has taken with regard to biosecurity and that the use of the Plant Healthy Logo and the scheme it represents can be universally applied in all sectors of the industry.
