BALI International members shortlisted for LI Awards
We are proud to announce Beijing Tsinghua Tongheng Urban Planning and Design Institute and Ecoland Planning and Design Corp have both been shortlisted for the LI Awards.
With some outstanding projects created by both companies, BALI is proud to showcase some of their previous hard work.
2017 BALI International Award winners Beijing Tsinghua Tongheng Urban Planning and Design Institute have produced some outstanding projects such as Bikini Plaza Design in Xingcheng City of Liaoning Province in China. Bikini Plaza is approximately 10 hectares, which was once a barren land. It is now an urban complex annotated interpreted through the perspective of landscape architecture, and a combination of Chinese culture and western culture.
The second finalists Ecoland Planning and Design Corp have won numerous BALI Awards in over the years. 2016 saw the company win an International Award for Luxelakes Red Stone Community Park Phase I project. The foundational principle behind this master plan was to represent and preserve the site’s unique nature identity. 2017 saw the company win two awards for two separate projects; JD.Com Landscape Design for JD.COM Headquarters Office and Raycom Infotech Office Park Landscape Renovation Design (Plaza B). The aim of the JD.Com Landscape Design for JD.COM Headquarters Office was to bring a unique character to the headquarters of the prominent Chinese online shopping enterprise, the landscape design thoughtfully blends contemporary comforts with a hint of inspiration from traditional Chinese garden elements, offering the employees a respite in relaxing, delicate spaces while enriching the surrounding community. Their second award was for the project Raycom Infotech Office Park Landscape Renovation Design (Plaza B). This project involved refurbishing an existing urban space within a mixed-use commercial and office park in the central district of Beijing, China.
The LI received over 160 entries from firms and practitioners around the world this year. The 36 shortlisted projects showcase the breadth of exceptional work across the landscape profession, including landscape design, planning, management and research – in particular, the powerful impact this work has on people’s lives.
The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on Thursday 22 November at The Brewery in London. New York Times best-selling author and journalist Florence Williams will be the ceremony’s keynote speaker, while broadcast journalist and BBC London radio contributor Ebs Akintade will compère the event.
Landscape Institute CEO Dan Cook said: ‘The Landscape Institute Awards aim to really push the boundaries of landscape design and to bring together professionals from the entire sector to collaborate and inspire. They demonstrate what is unique about the profession, which at its heart is focussed on creating and managing places that benefit people, place and nature.
