Amenity Forum comments ahead of glyphosate consultation
As a decision on the future of glyphosate nears, the Amenity Forum has issued a statement on the importance of an evidence-based approach to pesticide approval and an integrated approach to pest management.
The Forum – which counts BALI among its members – will be an important voice for the landscaping sector when the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) opens a public consultation on the continued use of glyphosate in Great Britain.
In 2025, the HSE extended the approval of the herbicide for one year to give officials more time to consider its longer-term future, drawing on any new scientific, technical, and regulatory knowledge.
If the HSE decides to reapprove glyphosate, the chemical would be available to use for the next 15 years, but if the decision goes the other way, officials will look at whether more restrictions on its use would enable approval.
BALI supports the Amenity Forum’s key messages around glyphosate and the approval process and we will continue to work with partners and members as the approval process unfolds.
