James Scott (MBALI, FSGLD) is Managing Director and Principal Designer at The Garden Company Ltd. With over 30 years’ experience in garden and landscape design, he leads a team dedicated to creating high-quality, enduring outdoor spaces that add real value to clients’ lives. James is widely recognised for both his design work and his contribution to the industry. The Garden Company has received multiple national awards; in recent years, this includes an SGLD Award, several Principal BALI Awards, a BALI Special Award, a Homes & Gardens Design Award, and four Pro Landscaper Business Awards. He is Head Judge for the SGLD Awards (since 2026), a member of the SGLD accreditation panel and a regular judge for the Pro Landscaper Project Awards. In 2022, he was named by Pro Landscaper as one of the most influential people in the UK landscaping industry. Based in Hertfordshire, James and his team provide nationwide garden design services, alongside landscaping and build work across Hertfordshire and surrounding counties. Their portfolio spans private residential clients, commercial projects and public realm work, including schemes for the National Trust.
