Projects

Small City Garden

Completed: 09/08/2021
Location: Oxford
Budget: £25,000.00

Our clients wanted a ‘wow’ factor garden, this is particularly important when space is at a premium and the whole back of the property overlook the area.

A small garden has to work hard to achieve a lot in limited space – a walk to the office, a play area, a place to relax, a dining area as well as space to store five bikes was a challenge in a 10x5m garden!

This garden has been built to last using good quality, locally sourced materials such as untreated oak.

A Garden for Wildlife

Completed: 14/11/2020
Location: Berkshire Downs
Budget: £80,000.00

A Cottage Garden Designed to Attract Wildlife

This charming cottage is set in a half-acre plot with a beautiful rural landscape, overlooking The Downs, surrounded by farmland. The owners felt that the garden it did not compliment the cottage. They wanted a much more ‘English Countryside’ feel and wanted to attract wildlife, in particular birds, into the garden. The owners chose OGD to completely transform their garden because we offer a full service, from design through to installation of ponds, plants and even lighting.

Contemporary Modern Garden Design

Completed: 05/09/2020
Location: Witney
Budget: £60,000.00

Garden design for a contemporary space

The owner of this newly built property wanted to have a garden with 'wow' factor. As with most newly built houses, the garden was a completely blank canvas - there we no constraints. The design centred on extending the interior of the house, which was decorated in a contemporary style, into the garden and incorporated a wonderful corten steel water feature, clean decking and block planting. The mirror pool is surrounded by a mixed hardwood decking, complimenting the corten steel.

Contemporary Garden in Traditional Setting

Completed: 14/04/2020
Location: Oxfordshire
Budget: £25,000.00

Garden design with a musical twist

Our client had just completed work to turn a barn into a music studio when his thoughts turned to improving the garden. As the client is a musician and very open to suggestions and different ideas, Jamie decided to give the garden a musical theme with the design was inspired by the inside of the client's boudoir piano. The winding path, clipped shrubs and flowing hedging emulate the inner workings of a piano. This theme continues with the harmonious, rhythmic pattern of planting.

A Walled Garden

Completed: 20/09/2019
Location: Oxford
Budget: £40,000.00

Creating a Walled Garden

Once clients got planning permission to open up the back of their house with a series of French windows and a garden room they wanted to change the back garden from a car park to a secluded, walled garden, although space was still required for parking. They wanted to enjoy the garden from the improved 'visibility' on the ground floor and wanted a company who could do a design and then carry out the landscaping work, the complete service from beginning to end.

Large Country Garden

Completed: 01/04/2019
Location: Witney
Budget: £70,000.00

The garden before was  laid to grass with a slope leading down to the house. There were no plants and one lovely, but lonely damson tree. There was no patio or practical area to sit and because of the slope the chairs and table slid down the hill. Emma created a design that broke the garden down into different areas for planting and seating with separate firepit, BBQ and pizza oven area for cooking. Jakub was the main landscaper, constructing the walls, pergolas, archways, water features and steps.

Creating 'Rooms' in a Garden

Completed: 11/12/2018
Location: Reading
Budget: £70,000.00

A Garden of Rooms

Our clients already had their designed when they approached us to do the landscaping. An extension had recently been built and they wanted the garden to be landscaped to create more space and an area of lawn levelled by building a retaining wall. In a larger garden, such as this, the area can be divided into separate 'rooms,' each with a different theme or purpose, but there must be a broad overview of the whole composition to ensure that the different components are in harmony.

Contemporary, Low Maintenance Garden - New Build Property

Completed: 10/07/2018
Location: Bourton on the Water, Gloucestershire
Budget: £25,000.00

Contemporary, Low Maintenance Garden

This garden, on a new estate in Bourton-on-the-Water, among the gentle rolling Cotswold Hills was a weed filled patch when the owners took possession. The design brief was for as low a maintenance garden It was to be contemporary in style, with a water feature and various seating areas. As is the case with many newly built properties, screening for privacy was a requirement. To keep the garden as low maintenance as possible, we used easigrass as a 'no mow' solution and easy maintenance plants.

Transforming a Field into a Garden

Completed: 10/09/2017
Location: Wallingford, Oxfordshire
Budget: £70,000.00

Field to garden in less than a year

Soon after people move into a new property they consider making changes to their new garden. In this case, there was a lot of open grass fields and the client wanted to introduce more of a structure to the garden with paths, raised beds, a greenhouse, an area for growing vegetables and more borders. A garden design was required to bring all the elements together in a cohesive way.

Cottage Garden on a Slope

Completed: 08/08/2017
Location: Hook Norton, Oxfordshire
Budget: £25,000.00

Garden design for a Sloping Garden

We completely transformed this cottage garden, which is on a slope, by creating a series of extra outdoor 'rooms' for entertaining and relaxing linked with steps and pathways. When it is at its peak, in the summer, there are areas to sit, enjoy the views and scent of the herbs. But the structure of this garden is best seen in the winter. There are low, topiary hedges and structural planting, such as standard viburnum tinus which gives interest to the garden all year round.

Small Town Garden

Completed: 07/07/2017
Location: Oxford
Budget: £16,000.00

A low maintenance garden

The owners of this Oxford garden had just moved from a house with a larger garden. They almost didn't buy the house because the garden was an issue, basically a dull patch of grass with pots of plants from their old garden. However, they realised that there was potential and with the help of Oxford Garden Design set about designing the outdoor space to suit their lifestyle. Above all the owners did not want to feel a slave to the garden.

A Gardener's Garden

Completed: 01/10/2012
Location: Bourne End, Buckinghamshire
Budget: £40,000.00

After a hot summer, this newly built garden was looking neglected. The lawn and much of the planting was brown and parched. The new owners got in touch as soon as they moved in and together we set about the transformation. We decided to divide the garden into different sections, with space for growing vegetables in raised beds and a special area for the children's play equipment. The plants were chosen to give several seasons of interest and colours were combined to give an overall harmonious effect.
