Michael has worked with David Austin Roses for more than 25 years and is chief rosarian. During this time he has become one of the world's leading authorities on roses and designed many private and public rose gardens around the world.
He continues to grow many roses in his own garden, which he runs on organic principles and has never sprayed. He selects only those varieties that combine both health and beauty and grows them alongside other plants to help prevent the spread of pests and diseases.
Michael is an advocate of common sense gardening and when it comes to pruning, he's keen to go back to basic principles so that students can easily apply their knowledge to any rose they encounter.
