Vistafolia complete roof garden project
Vistafolia were tasked with creating a low-maintenance, lightweight roof garden solution for this project in Manchester. With some clever reworking of the Vistafolia Panels, the result was this stunning, natural looking roof garden.
More often than not, Vistafolia's artificial green walls are installed vertically, with stunning aesthetics. But less seen is the panels being installed horizontally for the purposes of covering a roof or a ceiling. Having been provided with a 'Bees Wing' plan by the architects, Vistafolia's in-house team worked to create this natural-looking, low-maintenance roof garden, with views from the adjacent flats.
Given the proximity of the apartments, the developer was keen to cover the unsightly grey area underneath. Real plants weren't an option, as this would have been too heavy for the roof, as well as adding considerable ongoing costs for maintenance. The roof was also not designed to be accessed regularly, which would have complicated matters.
The panels were laid down atop concrete blocks, and installed alongside artificial turf and pebbles, combining hues and textures to catch the eye. Going against the norm, by installing the turf in different directions, further visual interest was created.
The whole installation took just one week, leaving the developer with a stunning view from the apartments for prospective buyers.
