UK tender for Beijing Horticultural Expo

31 Jul 2018 | BALI Member News

The UK has published a tender in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) for the design and build of a UK garden and pavilion at the Beijing International Horticultural Expo in 2019 (29 April – 7 October). The closing date for bids is Saturday 11 August 2018.

The Beijing Expo, with the theme Live Green, Live Better, will be the largest international horticultural Expo ever staged with 100 countries and international organisations participating and 16m visitors expected. It will be a centrepiece of China’s celebrations to mark its 70th anniversary.

Building on the historical horticultural ties between China and the UK the Expo offers a unique opportunity for the UK to demonstrate the very best of British creativity and innovation in garden design, plant science and conservation and environmental conservation. It will be a major opportunity too to promote British food and drink as well as goods, services and skills across the wider agri-tech sector.

All of China will be represented at the Expo. This is a chance, therefore, to forge new partnerships and business links across China, the world’s second largest economy and one of the UK’s principal trading partners.
