Tivoli aids restoration of vandalised Arbroath in Bloom

30 Oct 2018 | BALI Member News

Tivoli, formerly ISS Landscaping, is the UK’s leading independent grounds maintenance service provider and is a Registered Contractor member of BALI.

Following the destruction by mindless vandals of the Arbroath in Bloom, Royal Marine Garden earlier in the year, Tivoli was delighted to step in and help restore the garden to its former glory.

On Saturday 27 October a team of ten Tivoli volunteers, ranging from senior management to grounds operatives, collected at the garden together with 45 Commando veterans, to carry out the refurbishment.

“We heard on the national news that the garden had been vandalised and sought out Chic Grant, former Royal Marine, 45 Commando, and the force behind the creation of the original garden, to offer our services said Hugh Wood, Business Development Manager for Tivoli.

Nine Sorbus Mountain Ash trees, donated by Tivoli supplier Craigmarloch Nursery, were planted in a symbolic four-five formation, in recognition of the close connection to the 45 Commando Royal Marine Base; perimeter beech hedges were cut-back and general tidying and repair works carried out.  DAB Fabrications, also part of Tivoli’s supply chain, contributed a series of metal plaques, each one representing one of the four continents in which the 45 Commando operates.

Hugh Woods summed up the volunteering day by saying “Our aspiration is to make a positive impact in the communities where we operate, which means everybody working together to make a better place to live. Tivoli is particularly committed to the Armed Forces Community both with our collaboration with causes such as this and other sustainable community work, we undertake with our defence clients such as Amey.  The response of our staff as always has been incredible with our employees giving voluntarily of their own time.   We are truly proud to be part of the renovation of the Royal Marine Garden which is a popular stop for both tourists and locals alike.”
