Spruce removal grant returns with better terms
The grant was only launched last year but recent tweaks to the offer will see 80% of felling costs covered within the priority spruce removal area and 40% covered within the rest of the proactive spruce removal area – find out whether your spruce are located within these areas.
Moreover, the grants no longer consider any revenue generated from selling the removed timber, potentially making proactive spruce removal far more economic.
Land owners and managers can apply for a grant to remove spruce both in and outside of woodland and there is no lower or upper limit on the number of trees which can targeted.
The spruce removal grant is part of the tree health pilot scheme, which also offers grants to owners or managers of:
- larch trees with Phytophthora ramorum
- sweet chestnut trees with Phytophthora ramorum or sweet chestnut blight
- oak trees with oak processionary moth (OPM) in the established area
- ash trees with ash dieback
