Award-winning horticulturist Dean Bolton Grant and The Yorke Arms, both Harrogate based, have joined forces to launch the Northern School of Gardening.

The Northern School of Gardening offers gardening enthusiasts the opportunity to learn from the very best names in horticulture, including esteemed garden designer, Alistair Baldwin.

Dean Bolton Grant, Director and Founder of the Northern School of Gardening said:

Our aim is to create a destination for people who are keen to learn new gardening skills and be inspired by a curated mix of traditional and modern approaches to garden design. We’ve developed a range of courses suited to all abilities. We also offer intimate talks and presentations which will inspire and inform those who want to know what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to creating beautiful gardens. We’re excited to be working with the team at the Yorke Arms to deliver extraordinary events.

Students and guests to the Northern School of Gardening can choose from an array of one-day courses, ranging from Year-Round Vegetable Growing, to the Art and Craft of Gardening as well as the Art of Landscape Sketching. Courses are now available to book with dates commencing as of June 2021.

Jonathan Turner owner of The Yorke Arms said:

Yorkshire is one of the nicest places in the world, and Nidderdale is one of the nicest places in Yorkshire, so I do feel very lucky to own somewhere like the Yorke Arms. I honestly believe there is nothing quite like what we will be offering with the gardening school elsewhere in the country - especially in the setting we have here.

People have begun to connect so much more with the outdoors during the pandemic, and this is an opportunity to come and learn from someone like Dean, whose passion and knowledge for gardening are second to none.
