Rolawn invests in new turf harvesting technology

29 Jul 2020 | BALI Member News

BALI Registered Affiliate Rolawn, the UK’s acknowledged market-leading turf grower, has the future firmly in its sights as it announces what is believed to be another industry-first which is the purchase of the latest release from harvesting technology specialists Trebro, the AutoStack 3 harvester.

When it arrives later this year, it is believed that Rolawn’s AutoStack 3 will be the first of its kind in use in Europe. Earlier in 2020 Rolawn invested in a Trebro-TSR turf harvester, that has been a test bed for much of the technological upgrades now standard on the larger AutoStack 3.

Rolawn’s Managing Director, Paul Dawson, underlines the significance of this investment: “The last few months have been challenging for all businesses, but it is clear we need to forge ahead with our ongoing commitment to product quality, innovation, our customers and reinforcing our position as the UK market leader. Trebro has developed their harvesters adding functionality that fits with the Rolawn “attention to detail” mindset and also meets the longer-term strategic priorities of enhanced efficiency and concern for the environment.

In addition to the new harvesting equipment we have also upgraded key parts of our turf cultivation equipment with two new tractors, a Fendt 516 and Fendt 940 MT, added to the fleet. To improve turf consistency in ever changing conditions requires the right combination of cutting-edge technology and experienced, highly trained staff and these investments, like any activity at Rolawn, are to ensure the product continues to meet the needs of the market.”

The Fendt 516 incorporates revolutionary technology for the turf grower market that has live, real time grass plant analysis linked to sprayer and applicator control systems that optimise use of field inputs, such as fertilisers. This results in improved product quality whilst minimising environmental impact.”

These upgrades reflect Rolawn’s ongoing commitment to development, evidenced by their continued ISO certification to BS EN ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management and BS EN ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management.
