Low Pay Commission keen to hear from landscapers

29 Jan 2026 | Technical News

The Low Pay Commission – the body responsible for advising the government on the national minimum wage – will hold several in-person engagement sessions this year and is keen to hear from those in the landscaping industry.

The Commission is holding six sessions in a number of locations across the UK between March and July this year:

  • Bradford on 18/19 March
  • Blackpool on 15/16 April
  • Aberdeen on 13/14 May
  • Peterborough on 10/11 June
  • Wrexham on 01/02 July
  • Derry on 29/30 July

If you are interested in attending a session, please email Joseph.Wilkinson@lowpay.gov.uk or Duncan.Michie@lowpay.gov.uk or call officials on 07720 166271.

BALI is very concerned about the impact of recent increases in the National Minimum Wage on landscaping, especially when combined with other policy decisions like the increase in employer national insurance rates.

And, while we will continue to engage with government on this concern, these sessions provide an excellent opportunity for members to feed in their experience of the national minimum wage directly and influence future decisions around it.
