Help inform government policy on soil biosecurity

18 Jun 2026 | BALI Member News

The UK Government is asking BALI members to complete a short survey on how they trade, treat, and store soil in order to better manage plant health.

Defra (The government department for environment, food, and rural affairs) says that soil is one of the least understood pathways for the movement of plant pests and diseases.

By completing the survey, Defra says, horticulture and landscaping businesses can help the government manage the biosecurity risks of soil in a practical and proportionate way.

The survey only takes around six minutes to complete on average and will close at midnight on the 31st of July.
