Ground Control employees raise £50,000 honouring beloved colleague
One man’s legacy. One team’s mission. Countless lives saved.
In memory of our much-loved colleague Simon Wiggins, the incredible team at Ground Control have raised over £50,000 for the RNLI and they are beyond grateful.
Simon, who spent many joyful days at the coast with his sons Lewis and Lucas, chose the RNLI as his company’s "Charity of the Year" from his hospice bed. His wish inspired a year of unforgettable fundraising filled with heart, humour, and a whole lot of teamwork.
From car washes and sponsored silences to hair dye stunts, bake sales, ice buckets and even someone dressing up as a rat, the Ground Control team threw themselves into it. They also donated 40 days of volunteering, hosted the RNLI’s Wills & Trusts team at our Wildfell site, and made a Launch a Memory donation placing Simon, Lewis and Lucas’ names on our Exmouth Shannon lifeboat.
Last week, the RNLI were joined by Simon’s family, Ground Control colleagues and their crew at Wells RNLI to unveil a plaque in his honour, a moving tribute to a man who left a lasting mark on so many lives.
We’ve shown what’s possible when people come together for a cause they care about and the impact will be felt far beyond the shoreline.
