First chainsaw PPE for women launches

23 Oct 2025 | Technical News

Two versions of chainsaw trousers will be available, with a top of the range pair available now and a mid-range pair to follow soon alongside gloves and boots.

The designs were informed by discussions and testing with women in the sector, who say they have previously been forced to constantly adjust oversized sleeves and use tape to secure loose chainsaw trousers.

Mike Seddon, Forestry England Chief Executive, said:

“Our female staff working in the nation’s forests bring their professionalism and passion to work every day to ensure these special places thrive in the decades ahead. I’m proud Forestry England could take the lead in investing in this workwear range. It means vital equipment is now available for them and for women across the forestry industry. We are committed to becoming a more diverse workforce representing the people we serve and will continue to champion women in Forestry England, removing barriers to them progressing and fulfilling their potential wherever we find them.”

The new products are being launched amid Lantra’s respect the chainsaw campaign, which aims to address an uptick in injuries by reminding users of the risks, through a new film and safety checklist.

The move also comes ahead of the publication of a new British Standard on inclusive PPE provision, which will provide guidance on selection, purchase, and maintenance.
