Sones Accountancy Services: did you know your company can pay for your glasses?
Here is a quick tax tip that many company directors do not know...
If you (or any of your employees) spend the day staring at a computer screen, whether in the office, at home, or even out on site with a laptop or tablet, your limited company can cover the cost of an eye test under health and safety rules. Plus, it does not stop there. If an optician confirms that the glasses are needed specifically for using a screen, your company can also cover the cost of those glasses. All you need to ensure is that:
- The optician’s note or prescription clearly states they are for VDU or screen use.
- The cost is reasonable (no designer sunglasses!).
This applies to both you as a director and your team members, so it is a great way to look after everyone’s eye health while keeping things tax-efficient.
What is not to like?
It is one of those small, easy wins that can make a real difference over time. Every little tax-free perk like this adds up, and it is fully HMRC-approved!
