Could you help government respond to a plant health emergency?
The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) is looking to build a register of businesses who may be able to take on contracts when needed and has asked for expressions of interest from BALI members.
For now, the APHA is keen to understand what skills and equipment lie within private businesses which could be called upon under various scenarios, including rapid and large-scale monitoring or eradication.
This could amount to spraying pesticides on farms or in the wider environment, tree felling and disposing of plant material, or performing survey duties, all under set instructions and tight deadlines.
If you are interested in finding out more about the initiative, please email the APHA directly at outbreakndccocgoperations@apha.gov.uk.
