Arb Association to share safety alerts with BALI

15 Jan 2020 | BALI News

During a meeting between BALI's Technical Officer (Policy & Research), Owen Baker, and Stuart Wardrop, Chief Executive of the Arboricultural Association, Stuart made Owen aware of the Arboricultural Association’s Utility Arboriculture Group (UAG), setup to cater for contractors working adjacent to electricity supplies, the rail network, waterways and telecommunications services.

The UAG regularly disseminates ‘Safety Bulletins’ to members. These safety bulletins serve to alert members of specific incidents which have occurred to operatives working within the utility arboriculture sector, and provide information such as the events that led to the accident, and precautions which may help avoid similar situations arising, or how best to care for colleagues who have suffered similar injuries.

Stuart Wardrop has kindly allowed BALI to share these safety alerts amongst BALI members, of whom many undertake similar activities and face similar hazards on a daily basis. BALI will distribute these safety alerts when they are released by the Arboricultural Association.

The first article to be shared by BALI from this library of documents is one on vehicle wheel security. In the example given, 2 wheels had become detached from a vehicle trailer whilst it was being towed. The example can be viewed here
