Projects
Solly’s Orchard and Abbots Mill
PVR delivered the sensitive regeneration of a historic riverside landscape, combining heritage conservation with improved accessibility and biodiversity. Works included reinstating the historic orchard, extensive tree, perennial, bulb and riverside planting, new lawns, reclaimed Yorkstone paving, resin-bound and self-binding gravel paths, metal edging and realigned accessible routes. PVR also installed bespoke seating, viewing terraces, steps and handrails, refurbished historic railings and carefully rebuilt sections of walling. Delivered under archaeological supervision, the project won the BALI National Landscape Award 2026 for Regeneration Scheme Under £500K.
Southend-on-Sea Play Area Refurbishments
PVR acted as Principal Contractor for the refurbishment of four public play and skate facilities across Southend-on-Sea. Works included the repair, removal and replacement of play and skate equipment, new safety surfacing, footpaths, drainage, earthworks, a cycle course, park furniture, signage, fencing and hard and soft landscaping. PVR coordinated multiple workstreams across the four live public parks, using careful phasing, secure segregation and controlled access to protect visitors and retained landscape features while minimising noise, dust and disruption to surrounding communities.
More Park Catholic Primary School
PVR delivered a flood resilience and landscape improvement scheme within a live school environment, incorporating civil engineering, sustainable drainage and new educational facilities. Works included speed humps to deflect surface water, swales through woodland and playing fields, a settlement pond and rain gardens to manage water across the site. PVR also created an outdoor educational area with raised planting beds and a polytunnel and installed a modular outdoor classroom. Works were carefully phased to maintain school operations, protect conservation-sensitive woodland and improve flood resilience, accessibility and road safety.
Dunstable Downs – Chute Wood Accessible Path
PVR delivered a new accessible, year-round multi-use circular trail at Dunstable Downs for the National Trust. Works included traditional excavated path construction across chalk grassland using Type 1 sub-base and granite fines, alongside no-dig construction through Chute Wood using a cellular confinement system to protect sensitive tree roots. Timber edging and carefully selected granite surfacing integrated the route naturally into the surrounding landscape. PVR maintained safe visitor access throughout construction, while protecting habitats, root protection areas and natural drainage within this environmentally sensitive and heavily visited site.
Roxeth Recreation Ground – Playground & Park Enhancements
PVR delivered playground and wider park enhancements at Roxeth Recreation Ground, creating an inclusive play environment while improving accessibility, biodiversity and landscaping. Works included new inclusive and wheelchair-accessible play equipment, wetpour and bound mulch safety surfacing, grassed play mounds, stepping features and natural play areas. PVR also delivered wildflower meadow and soft landscaping, upgraded paths, entrances, seating, bins and park furniture, while protecting mature trees and root protection areas to BS 5837. Phased construction and secure segregation maintained safe access to surrounding sports, walking and recreational facilities throughout the works.
Pinner Memorial Park – Inclusive Playground Refurbishment
PVR delivered the complete refurbishment of Pinner Memorial Park playground, creating a modern and inclusive play environment for children of different ages and abilities. Works included removal of existing equipment and surfacing, installation of inclusive and wheelchair-accessible play equipment, sensory features and impact-absorbing safety surfacing, together with new fencing and access gates. Pathways, thresholds and access points were reconfigured to provide step-free access and improved circulation, while the redesigned layout enhanced visibility and safety. Secure segregation and phased construction maintained safe public access throughout works within the busy operational park.
Watling Park – River Realignment, Flood Storage Basins & Public Realm Improvements
PVR delivered major flood alleviation, SuDS, landscaping and public realm improvements at Watling Park as part of the Action for Silk Stream programme. Works included widening and realigning the Burnt Oak Brook, daylighting concealed water systems, attenuation basins, reinforced riverbanks, vegetated retaining walls and diversion of an existing surface water sewer into new wetlands. PVR also delivered new and upgraded paths, play and gym equipment, park furniture and entrance improvements. Native tree planting, wildflower meadows, species-rich grasslands and wetland habitats enhanced biodiversity and ecological connectivity throughout the park.
Whyteleafe Primary School – Property Flood Resilience & Rain Garden Scheme
PVR delivered a climate-resilient SuDS and flood alleviation scheme to resolve recurring surface water flooding affecting school operations. Works included four rain gardens, a large underground soakaway, permeable surfacing and hard landscaping, complemented by resilient planting, wildflower turf, sensory planting and a dipping pond. Major underground drainage works were completed during a restricted half-term window using double-shift working. Within the live school environment, PVR maintained safe segregation and carefully phased delivery, while incorporating biodiversity and outdoor learning features supported by student climate education and post-completion maintenance information.
Belvue Park – Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS) & Nature-Based Solutions
PVR delivered a park-wide sustainable drainage scheme incorporating new attenuation basins, swales, bunds and a seasonal pond to manage surface water and reduce pressure on the sewer network. Works included drainage infrastructure, flexible headwalls and a timber bridge, alongside meadow seeding and native planting to create new wetland and grassland habitats. Surveys and hydrological modelling informed the sizing and configuration of the SuDS features, which were designed to support groundwater recharge, flood resilience and biodiversity while integrating with the park landscape and Ealing’s existing maintenance regime.
Green Park Access Improvements – Public Realm & Infrastructure Upgrade
PVR delivered public realm and infrastructure improvements along a heavily used pedestrian route, including path widening, resurfacing and new edging to improve accessibility and visitor safety. Works incorporated new attenuation drainage and wider drainage upgrades, together with the carefully managed relocation of a historic gas lamp in coordination with Cadent Gas. Delivery was undertaken under archaeological supervision within a sensitive heritage environment, with pedestrian routes maintained throughout. Works were carefully programmed around high public footfall, the Changing of the Guard, Royal events and other operational requirements.
Place St Maur des Fossés Public Realm Regeneration
PVR delivered the transformation of Place St Maur des Fossés into a vibrant, accessible public space, undertaking extensive civil engineering, drainage and hard landscaping works. The scheme included an interactive fountain and water play area, underground water collection and reuse tanks, dedicated water-management systems, slot drainage and sustainable drainage planters. Works also included distinctive beach-pattern paving, raised brick planters, pop-up power supplies for markets and community events, and construction of a stone-filled gabion pump chamber enclosure with a green roof, creating a flexible and attractive town-centre destination.
