details

The Laundry Garden is situated on the grounds of the 18th century home, which has been brought to life by Tom and Kate Williams.

We are thrilled Tom and Kate have exclusively opened the gardens for BALI members. Come along for an insightful afternoon into their journey and how they have built the garden, which incorporates three main features - The Enchanting Woodlands, The Magical Walled Gardens and The Structured House Gardens, totalling 21 different areas of exploration.

Discover the meticulous fresh herbaceous planting, formal hedging, nectarines, leafy canopies and shaded areas to enjoy the surroundings. The lopsided Mulberry stands as a testament to the home's rich history.

About The Laundry Garden

Once The Laundry and Dairy to Llanrhaeadr Hall, the Grade II Listed property is built in true Georgian style. The house was built in the 1770s. Tom’s family have owned the house and surrounding land for over 140 years. The property was passed down to Tom in 1984 and sensitively restored in 2010.

Tom and Kate are often asked why it’s called The Laundry Garden. As far as they know, about 200 years ago their home used to be the servants' quarters, dairy, and laundry to the main hall (next door) where Tom’s great-grandparents used to live. The walled garden was apparently filled with fruit trees, vegetables, and flowers for cutting. Sadly, they don’t have any photos, only stories from parents and family members that have wonderful memories to share. They felt the name was right and different enough to make people remember, not only for its history but for its future.
