BALI members returning to RHS Chelsea Flower Show

Today, the RHS has revealed the first show gardens for next year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019 and BALI is delighted to see that several veteran BALI members who have won multiple medals will be returning for design/build duties in 2019. The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is one of the UK's flagship events, globally recognised by millions annually and BALI is delighted to confirm that it will be exhibiting on stand EA/496. 

Members involved in show gardens announced to-date, include:

Greenfingers will be exhibiting at the event with a garden designed by Kate Gould (a BALI Registered Designer). Greenfingers, which BALI supports, is a national charity dedicated to supporting children who spend time in hospices around the UK, along with their families, by creating inspiring gardens for them to relax in and benefit from. Take a peek at the predesigned idea for the garden here.


BALI Registered Designer Andy Sturgeon will be returning with one of his unique garden designs (Title to be confirmed). Since 1988, Andy Sturgeon Landscape and Garden Design have been dedicated to creating dynamic external spaces for private, commercial and international clients. Based in Sussex, Andy's teams work across London, the UK, Hong Kong and overseas.

Andrew Duff, a BALI Registered Designer, will also be designing The Savill and David Harber Garden which supports the theme of trees within an urban space. Andrew works in his own practice with commissions, which include gardens ranging from the transformation of a country estate in Devon, through refurbishments to an estate in Connecticut, a property in Grenada and an estancia and polo stud on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. Mark Gregory, a BALI Registered Contractor and multiple RHS medal-winning landscaping veteran is once again returning to the show, following the success at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2018. Mark and team are once again supporting Welcome to Yorkshire by designing and building a South American rainforest-inspired garden which also celebrates the splendour of some of the world’s famous canals and waterways. Mark is a twenty-time Gold medal winner at Chelsea Flower Show and has won numerous industry awards for projects in London and the South East. His dynamic approach, energy and experience have given him a reputation for innovation and technical expertise within the landscaping community. Take a quick look at his show garden here.

Chris Beardshaw, a BALI Registered Designer, is also returning and will be designing a show garden which has yet to be announced. He has won 35 prestigious design awards, including 12 RHS Gold medals, the latest was for his Morgan Stanley Garden for the NSPCC at RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2018 which was awarded the coveted Best Show Garden Award. Members involved in artisan gardens, to-date, are:

Idverde, a BALI Registered Contractor, will also be exhibiting in the Artisan Garden section in 2019, with its garden titled Family Action 150th Anniversary, created by Alistair Bayford. idverde care for parks and gardens, amenity green space, woodlands, riverbanks, beaches and nature reserves. Their fine turf specialists keep bowling greens, golf courses and cricket squares in top playing condition. idverde has a long and prestigious history of delivering award-winning landscape standards with over 100 BALI National Landscape Awards under their belt to date, including the prestigious BALI Grand Award for their work at Media City. In 2019, idverde will be celebrating 100 years of business, hence the connection to and exposure from RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Take a look at their garden here.

Perennial, a long-standing BALI supported charity, is celebrating its 180th year with a walk through feature ‘The Perennial Lifeline Garden’ designed by London College of Garden Design Graduates taking inspiration from The Laskett Gardens in Herefordshire, bequeathed to the charity by Sir Roy Strong. Perennial is the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping everyone who works in horticulture, and their families, when times get tough. Perennial provides free and confidential advice, support and financial assistance to people of all ages working in, or retired from horticulture. This help extends to spouses, partners and children.

Finally, Sparsholt College, a BALI Training Provider member, will be exhibiting alongside Thompson & Morgan, with new plant varieties on display. Sparsholt College in Hampshire is one of the leading providers of university-level courses for the land and environment with a heritage spanning more than 100 years.
