BALI is committed to continually improving the landscape sector and sets high standards for its Registered Designer members.
Depending on your registered status with other landscape organisations, BALI offers two routes to becoming a Registered Designer member.
Route one is for Registered members of the Society of Garden Designers or Chartered Landscape Institute:
Four application form requirements:
Three Client references | Copy of company letterhead |
Copies of public and professional indemnity insurance | Two detailed projects carried out in the last two years |
Route two is for non-registered members of SGD or Chartered LI

Steps to becoming a BALI Registered Designer - route one:
- Submit the application form and pay the application fee. BALI will check all documents submitted and referees will be contacted by BALI
- External vetting takes place. Invited to attend an assessment day consisting of one or more of the Design Panel who will review your projects
- Upon approval of vetting an invoice for membership fees will be issued
- Once paid, BALI will activate membership, giving member access to a suite of benefits

- Submit the application form and pay the application fee, plus assessment day fee Internal vetting takes place. BALI will check all documents submitted and referees will be contacted by BALI
- External vetting takes place. Invited to attend an assessment day consisting of one or more of the Design Panel who will review your projects
- Upon approval of vetting an invoice for membership fees will be issued
- Once paid, BALI will activate membership, giving member access to a suite of benefits
