Manchester City - Etihad Stadium
With sustainability at the heart of Manchester City, they are driven by a passionate belief that football can have a positive impact on their communities and empower better lives. Their vision is that they will be net carbon zero by 2030 and to achieve this the areas of priority are; waste reduction, consumables and food, measurement and reporting, impactful biodiversity, energy and water, materials, transport and travel and local active participation.
City Football Academy has reached the highest possible environmental standards – the gold standard under L.E.E.D (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) guidelines. Low carbon, low water and low waste measures are employed to minimise our impact on the environment and encourage local biodiversity.
In the Summer of 2023, they started collaborating with Niche, creating a series of infographic signs raising awareness of the natural habitats designed to help nature thrive at the campus.
As part of the collaboration within the City Football Academy, eleven large bee posts installed. These landscape structures are designed to provide nesting habitats for a variety of bee species and other invertebrates. Before installation 29 different species of bee had already been recorded at CFA and with the new habitat initiative this should dramatically increase.
