Harrowden Turf supplied Meadowmat Wild Flower Turf to the Gold-Medal-Winning garden at Gardening Scotland 2017
Meadowmat was used in a tudor themed show garden to produce an authentic wild meadow. Native plants and grasses that would have been common in Tudor Scotland form the basis of Traditional Meadowmat and so it was the ideal product for SRUC students to choose.
The show garden reproduces the scene where Lord Darnley, husband to Mary Queen of Scots was found dead on 10th February 1567 - 450 years ago.
The 2nd year garden design students chose to commemorate the anniversary of his death and at the same time challenged themselves to find out what a tudor garden would have in it - and then source the relevant plants and features. Quite a challenge!
Naturally, the garden earned a Gold Medal. Harrowden Turf are always keen to help young horticulturists develop their craft and so it was an honour to be involved with this garden.
