    Woodberry Park is a new luxury development in Finsbury Park, N4, located on the banks of the New River and West Reservoir overlooking more than 42 acres of tranquil open water. Block 1 is the final chapter and phase which completes the Kick Start Site 3 development and over 5 years of works with In-Ex Landscapes. This project is a mixed-use development for Berkeley Homes in Hackney, North London. The architects were instructed to design a very high specification landscape solution for the site that would not only compliment the amazing development that sat within it but would showcase the depth of knowledge and exacting standards the client has in regard to concept and finishes for landscape works. The scheme comprised of paved and pedestrian areas to accommodate interlinking walkways and communal areas for relaxation and socialising. Granite coping to raised planter walls and seating, timber decked courtyards, railings, podium vents and a fully automated irrigation scheme. In-Ex Landscapes were given the task of taking this vision and making it a reality, our scope of works involved taking all elements from the ground up, inclusive of all bulk excavation, drainage, base and civil preparation, new services and ducting, all landscape finishes, lighting, and irrigation.

    Providence Tower

    Providence Tower marks the pinnacle moment for the development of New Providence Wharf a luxury 44-storey 136 m high residential tower residing in New Providence Wharf, Blackwall, London E14 9PJ. Providence Tower has an elegant contemporary design aesthetic and a wealth of excellent facilities including private balconies with breathtaking views of the river Thames which is only 400m away. Created by the developer Ballymore, and built by Balfour Beatty, Providence Tower benefits from private balconies with breathtaking views

    In order to overcome the challenge of connecting the public raised podium garden with the large Piazza type space (as well as the adjacent phase, Ontario Tower) the architect designed the landscape gardens with the theme of ‘flow’. They focused on the analogy of a stream flowing from the mountain to the sea with the landscaping flowing from the central Piazza space towards the River Thames.

    The scheme is comprised of extra heavy standard tree planting,  tree pits with structural soils and cells, seasonal drift planting and a fully automated irrigation system. In-Ex Landscapes scope of works included all elements from the ground up including all bulk excavation, introduction of structural soils and formation of undulating planting areas, Trees were mechanically lifted into position and anchored above podium structures with mature specimen and herbaceous plants helping to soften the expanses of hard landscaping throughout.

    London City Island

    Regeneration Scheme - Over £500k London City Island is a vibrant new development key to the regeneration of Leamouth Peninsula. An area with a rich naval heritage, London City Island is surrounded by the River Lea and a small ecological park encompassing streams, ponds, meadows and wildlife. Perfectly located, it is within walking distance of Canary Wharf and, with the specially commissioned bridge, there are direct connections to Canning Town Station, enabling links to the DLR and Jubilee line. The site has laid as an unusable and derelict sector of contaminated land for 35-40 years, the 12 acre site was once a margarine factory and an industrial eyesore. The vast amounts of capping and piling to retain the island were undertaken before our commencement on the site however the introduction of a new purposeful access bridge allowed for the regeneration and transformation of this unique scheme The architect was responsible for creating a Landscape Masterplan to link a mixed use development that incorporates 1900 residential units, retail work spaces, leisure facilities, cultural exhibition space and offices. The scheme comprised large quantities of paved and pedestrian areas to accommodate large areas of walkways and communal areas for relaxation and socializing. A luxury decking and swimming pool area, an external lighting scheme and a fully automated irrigation scheme. In-Ex were given the task of bringing this vision to life. Our scope of works involved taking all elements from the ground up, including all bulk elevation, drainage, base and civil preparation, new services and ducting, all landscape finishes, lighting and irrigation. The programme for the project began in November 2015 and was completed by Nov 2016

    The landscaping scheme required design development with the architect and included private courtyard spaces together with public walkways along the river which are swathed in drift planting and mature specimen trees.

    The focal point for the scheme is a spectacular cascading water feature with private courtyard spaces and stunning views and public walkways to the wetland reserve which has been recently opened for the first time in over 200 years by Sir David Attenborough. This project is a mixed-use development for Berkeley Homes in Hackney, North London.

    The architects were instructed to design a very high specification landscape solution for the site that would not only compliment the amazing development that sat within it but would showcase the depth of knowledge and exacting standards the client has in regard to concept and finishes for landscape works.
    The scheme comprised large quantities of paved and pedestrian areas to accommodate large areas of walkways and communal areas for relaxation and socialising. Raised drystone planters above the basement podium slabs to hold large semi-mature tree stock, water features on two different levels, external lighting scheme, and timber decked courtyards and a fully automated irrigation scheme.

    In-Ex Landscapes were given the task of taking this vision and making it a reality, our scope of works involved taking all elements from the ground up, inclusive of all bulk excavation, drainage, base and civil preparation, new services and ducting, all landscape finishes, water features, lighting and irrigation.

    The programme for the project ran from its initial works during February 2014 – February 2016, with the project being complete before the client’s handover date and ahead of schedule. We received client commendations for our progress on site and early completion.

    •Bespoke Stonework – The majority of the stone on site was designed and cut off-site to specific stone cutting schedules by In-Ex Landscapes. Many different shapes and fixing methods were used with most stones designed as radial sections for aesthetic purposes.

    •The main central courtyard water feature – The water feature is a tiered cascading feature clad entirely in black slate walling with automatic flow controls to reduce flow in high wind conditions. The finished product is a thing of great beauty and immediate effect upon arrival on site and provides movement and sound complimenting the tranquil neighbouring reservoirs

    •Extensive drift planting schemes throughout the project were implemented from design stage and then completely upgraded during the construction phase to provide an instant impact environment with mature specimens and extra heavy
    standard trees. The standard of the planting was to compliment our benchmark project at Kick Start site 1 which is treated a s a template for the ongoing regeneration of Woodberry Down, so our experience in requirements is priceless to the client.
    Swale Planting was re-visited and re-specified due to the high demand for quality and immediate presentation from the client, the same was realised in the wildflower turf provided to the neighbouring metropolitan open land (MOL)

    Extensive granite paving was carried out across the entire square in a variety of intricate designs intended to provide a vastly improved visitor experience. Granite steps provided access to the square in three strategic locations with bespoke metal planters for urban trees, shrubs and flower beds in a variety of species designed to intimately punctuate the square with greenery and colour.

    A Private Residence in Radlett

    Domestic Garden Construction - Construction Cost Over £250K
    The site, which was formerly home to the singer Alison Moyet, was purchased by its current owners with the intention of creating a contemporary style home for them to live in with their 3 teenage daughters. Across 4 different levels the house encompasses 16,000 square feet, containing an indoor swimming pool complex, tennis court and fire pit.

    The landscaping was only taken into consideration when the house was nearing completion. It was at this stage In Ex Landscapes were invited to comment and to propose a landscaping scheme. In Ex Landscapes and Erik De Maeijer, from Hudson De Maeijer, were invited to design a scheme in keeping with the style of the house. Erik and In Ex worked closely with the clients during the autumn of 2015 to develop the scheme from design through to completion.

    Owing to the large scale of the house, careful consideration was given to the front entrance. Each intricate detail was designed with the purpose of breaking up the huge scale of elevation at the front of the house. From first impressions of the white granite driveway detail through to the medium height Taxus and Prunus lusitanica hedging leading upwards towards the 7 metre tall multistem Parrotias. These elements were used to break up the large façades to the front of the house.

    In the rear garden instant hedging was required to block out neighbouring buildings and garden. 5m high bamboo was then planted at a lower level to take the emphasis away from the hedging. The landscaping at the rear of the property covers two levels. At the high level, the roof of the swimming pool complex, artificial lawns were installed to generate a relaxing private area leading off from the main house. An elaborate spiral stone clad staircase was fitted to connect the higher level to the tennis court and swimming pool recreation area situated on the lower level.

    With such drastic changes in elevation there were drainage issues involved for both the landscaping and the basement levels of the house. To resolve these issues the patio area was laid on raised pedestals to facilitate the drainage and retaining walls in the brickwork and stone coping were used as planting areas. It was with these planting areas that Erik was able to use his planting knowledge to create a contemporary, functional area. The tree planting included multi stem Parrotias and Cherry Trees which were cleverly linked back to the main house by an elegant flight of steps with stainless steel hand rails.
    As with the front of the property all the paving slabs were matching white granite and a metre squared in size. The large slabs, along with the use of extra thick coping were used as a tool to emphasise the enormity of the house.

    The finished landscaping scheme was complimented by an elegant lighting arrangement. Created by Anthony Thompson with the assistance of the lighting team at Delta Lights.

    21 Wapping Lane, London, UK Wapping is famously one of London’s oldest village settlements, having survived the 20th century with much of its historic maritime character intact. Any new building here needed to recognise and respond to its surroundings, but that doesn’t mean it has to be confined by them. The development at 21 Wapping Lane is an entirely modern intervention, designed to offer primarily residential accommodation, but also retail, leisure and recreation facilities, perfectly placed between the City to the west and Canary Wharf to the east. It will be the first major building in Wapping for 10 years and brings a new interpretation of riverside life in distinct, but sympathetic contrast to the old Wapping, an injection of bright urban vitality complimented with outstanding quality landscaping designed and built to last for the next century.

    The scheme consists of all hard & soft landscaping works to an enclosed podium to all sides on the 1st floor with extremely restricted access.

    The landscaped podium is surrounded by student accommodation and will be a social hub for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding green space and interlinking paths. Works consist of resin bound pathways, rendered masonry walls, bespoke granite copings and bench stones, furniture, decking and canopy structures.

The landscaping scheme required design development with the architect and included private courtyard spaces together with public walkways along the river which are swathed in drift planting and mature specimen trees. The focal point for the scheme is a spectacular cascading water feature and granite dockstone amphitheatre seating terrace. This project was a mixed-use development for Berkeley Homes in Hackney, London.

    Locton Green is part of the on-going regeneration works throughout East London adjacent to the Olympic site. The communal scheme provides social, play and recreational use to the local residents and public. Works include all hard & soft landscaping throughout, play surfaces and equipment and all directional signage and railings.
