Rediscover your Role in Qualification Development

The British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI)

Ever wondered how qualifications are created? Tempted to get involved in developing the standards for your industry but are unsure what they are all about? Come and find out answers to these questions and many more at a free event hosted by Lantra.

Lantra, the Sector Skills Council for environmental and land-based industries, announced today (2 October) they are inviting representatives from the horticulture, landscaping and sports turf industry to attend a choice of two informative events, following a similar successful workshop offered last year. The workshops will provide attendees with a chance to learn about qualifications and training and how they can contribute to the process to help steer future provision towards the needs of their business.

Lisa Barry, Learning and Development Manager at Cats Protection, attended the event last year and commented: “The event was a great opportunity to hear more detail about how the qualifications system all fits together and to hear others’ views, questions and challenges facing them. It provided plenty of food for thought with regards to how we at Cats Protection can develop our internal training in line with qualifications.”

Liz Pridgeon, Lantra’s Development Manager for Standards and Qualifications, said: “These events will improve horticulture, landscaping and sports turf businesses’ understanding of training and qualifications development and show how they can contribute to the future success of industry through creating a supply of people with the right skills to join tomorrow’s workforce.”

The employer-led workshops will explore occupational standards, qualification development, and apprenticeships, giving participants an opportunity to learn more about the ways they can get involved. The workshops will also provide an invaluable insight into the benefits of getting involved by drawing upon first hand experiences of other employers.

Pridgeon added: “It is an ideal way for horticulture, landscaping and sports turf businesses to engage with Lantra and network with other employers and discover the advantages training brings to business success. I hope everybody that can attend, will do.”

The events are free of charge and take place in Wiltshire on Tuesday 27 October and in Yorkshire on Wednesday 25 November.
