Joint 2009 Winners for Advanced WorldSkills UK Landscape Gardening Competition.

Oatridge College from Edinburgh

Coming all the way from Northern Ireland and Edinburgh competitors Michael Clarke and James Cuffey from the College of Agriculture Food and Rural Enterprise, Greenmount Campus and Colin Smith and Petrus Jacobs from Oatridge College won the 2009 Advanced Final of the WorldSkills UK Landscape Gardening Competition at Malvern Autumn Show 26-27th September securing a Silver Medal from UKSkills.

4 teams also including Hartpury College and PGE Landscaping from Redditch worked hard producing 4 Canadian themed gardens which caught the eyes of passing spectators.  Positioned just within the north gate the gardens were watched by passing spectators several times per day. Many came back to see how the teams were progressing and asked about sponsors materials on display.

Judges; Darren Thompson from WorldSkills 2011 team, Charlie Maclauchlan from Country Gardens and Mitch Westwood from Westwood Solutions were impressed with the passion and skills demonstrated over the four days by all competitors.

The winning teams from both the Intermediate and Advanced Competition now await, thanks to Lantra Awards, to celebrate their success with the landscape industries finest at the prestigious BALI National Landscape Award ceremony on the 4th December.
