Public consultation on Planning Act 2008

On 14 July 2009 the Department for Communities and Local Government published the following document for public consultation: Planning Act 2008: Consultation on examination procedures for nationally significant infrastructure projects.
The Planning Act 2008 provides for a more efficient, transparent and accessible planning system for nationally significant transport, energy, water, waste and waste-water infrastructure projects. Secondary legislation in the form of Statutory Instruments (‘regulations’) is required that will set out the detail of the procedures to be followed for examinations by the Infrastructure Planning Commission of applications for nationally significant infrastructure projects and also the fees that will be charged to recover the costs of processing them.
This consultation is the third and final one in a suite of draft Statutory Instruments and guidance documents that, together, are intended to provide for implementation of the new regime for nationally significant infrastructure projects established by the Planning Act. Consultation closes on 5 October 2009. Details of how you can respond to the consultation are included in the consultation document, which is available at: http://www.communities.gov.uk/publications/planningandbuilding/consultationexaminationnsips
