BALI Members FGS Group completes stage one on exciting children’s playground

Successful Catsfield Landscaping and Fencing Company, FGS Group, announced today that they have just finished work on an exciting new play area in Rye Road, Hastings for Amicushorizon Housing Association.

“Freiburg in Germany was held up as 'the' good practice model and one we could aspire to / emulate when improving our estates.” (Source: British government's Homes and Communities Department). So keeping this in mind whilst designing, FGS Group’s Landscape Architect, Ian Woodland, said the play area is a “mix of the traditional and the new. The existing teen shelter and basketball / football equipment are being kept with a buddy swing and a five-a-side pitch added. Plus along with the traditional comes the new…. the landscape itself has been manipulated to form banks and platforms, giving free reign to creative play and a child’s imagination”. “Just like when we were kids”, a passing older resident commented.

This improvement is “only a small part of AmicusHorizon’s and Hastings Borough Council’s strategy for play” said FGS Group’s Managing Director, Nigel Kellet, and “as a local employer, I believe it is vitally important to be involved and like AmicusHorizon we are very committed to improving local amenities to develop the role landscaping has in providing natural and imaginative play space.”

Many local employers also believe “This is especially true when we consider the current economic climate”, a positive policy of “awarding local contracts to local businesses is crucial” not just to the Company or their employees who all live locally, but to the wider local economy”.
