Lafarge readymix highly commended in construction industry sustainability award
Lafarge Readymix has been ‘highly commended’ in the Sustainability Category at the Construction News Specialist Awards 2010. The commendation was announced at this month’s awards ceremony which was attended by 600 industry leaders.
The commendation recognises Lafarge Readymix’s sustainability achievements which include leading the industry by being the first ready-mixed concrete producer to receive a ‘very good’ status for BES6001 the framework standard for responsible sourcing.
Lafarge Readymix is part of the Lafarge Group, the largest building materials group in the world and the only company in its sector to be listed in the ‘Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World’* having featured each year since 2005.
Lafarge Readymix has developed a range of sustainable and innovative products, many of which have been developed at The Lafarge Research Centre in
- Envirocrete™, A bespoke concrete that offers a reduced carbon footprint when compared with conventional concretes typically saving 30% in CO2 per cubic metre;
- Extensia™, is a powerful solution to the problem of shrinkage cracks, involving no steel, less joints, and providing a reduced slab thickness, reducing C02 emissions by up to 20%
