Pillocks off to the Hillocks! But still need your help

A gallant group of BALI members and industry colleagues, aka “The Pillocks on the Hillocks”, are now in training for the gruelling 3 Peaks Challenge, which they aim to complete in 24 hours to raise £10,000 for Greenfingers.
Instigated by BALI National Chairman Richard Gardiner, who last year raised money for the Appeal with a charity cycle, this year’s fundraising challenge is being coordinated by Brian Herbert of BALI contractors Outdoor Options of Milford, Surrey, who will join the 13 plus strong group when they climb Britain’s highest peaks – Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon - over a 24-hour period from 14-16 July this year.
Greenfingers is the horticulture industry’s charity, which raises money to build gardens in children’s hospices across the country. Brian and Richard, along with others in the team, helped construct the garden at Chestnut Tree House hospice in Arundel, Sussex, 18 months ago. BALI is a strong supporter of the charity and donated £1,900 from a collection taken at the BALI National Landscape Awards ceremony last December.
With just a couple of group members left to confirm, BALI participants who have confirmed their places are:
Brian Herbert – Outdoor Options
David Dodd – The Outdoor Room
Richard Gardiner, BALI National Chairman – Norris & Gardiner
Matt O’Conner – John O’Conner (Grounds Maintenance)
Mark Gregory and Matt Moore – Landform Consultants
Paul Cowell and Anthony George – PC Landscapes
Andy Spetch – British Sugar TOPSOIL
Paul Downer – Oak View Landscapes
Glynn Bawden, Samuel Day and Craig Tate-Grimes – Transform Landscapes
The token woman is Magda Ibrahim of Horticulture Week and we wish her the very best of luck when the rest of them start whingeing about aching limbs and sore feet, brave girl!
The group hope BALI colleagues and friends will donate via the Just Giving website at www.justgiving.com/bali3peaks , which is now open for donations. This is quite a challenge for these guys, not least because they all have businesses to run. Please dig deep and help them on their way by donating now.
