Record Breaking Charity Collection at BALI National Landscape Awards 2009

An outstanding £3812.79 was collected on behalf of two Charities at this years BALI National Landscape Awards, a record breaking amount for the event. The money will be split equally between the GreenFingers Charity, which raises money to build gardens in children’s hospices throughout the UK and Grace School, a charity established to build, and then support, a school in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan - an area ravaged by 21 years of civil war.

A collection was made after a speech by BALI Chairman Richard Gardiner who highlighted the importance of the collection and the real difference this money can make to the charities. After the collection he thanked everyone for their generosity: ‘The collection is a real testament to the generosity of those within the industry, and the amount donated surpassed expectations and will make a huge difference to the important work of the two charities.’

Richard Gardiner is also part of a group of industry professionals who are looking to take on the Three Peaks Challenge, this challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains in the UK within 24 hours. The group is undertaking this challenge to raise funds for GreenFingers, Thrive and Cancer Research and is still looking for willing participants as well as sponsorship.
