British Sugar TOPSOIL partners with Perennial

15 Nov 2019 | BALI Member News

BALI Registered Affiliate member British Sugar TOPSOIL has partnered with Perennial, the charity for all horticulturists and their families, to help boost funds by donating £1 for every bulk bag of their topsoil sold between September 2019 and September 2020.

If the company’s 2018-19 topsoil sales are anything to go by, Perennial can look forward to a considerable windfall to further their work with individuals and families in the horticulture sector who face challenging, often life-changing, events.

The partnering agreement was signed by British Sugar TOPSOIL’s National Sales Manager Andy Spetch and Perennial’s Corporate Partnership Manager Phil Swainston, who visited British Sugar’s Wissington factory and topsoil manufacturing facility near King’s Lynn, Suffolk. Phil was able to see how British Sugar TOPSOIL re-uses the rich arable soils brought in with the sugar beet by farmers in East Anglia to produce high quality, BS3882:2015-compliant topsoils and topdressing for the landscaping, construction and amenity sectors. With environmental sustainability a major consideration for construction and public realm projects in particular, British Sugar TOPSOIL supplies many thousands of tonnes of its product to schemes across London, East Anglia and the Midlands, several thousands of which are supplied in bulk bags.

Commenting on the agreement, Andy Spetch said:

“A large proportion of our business is with landscapers who find bulk bags useful where product must be contained and kept dry and uncontaminated on site. The British Sugar TOPSOIL team selects a charity to support each year and this year we wanted to build our links with Perennial. With our £1 per bulk bag scheme we will be giving back to the charity that is there for our customers.”

Perennial’s Phil Swainston said:

“We are delighted to welcome British Sugar TOPSOIL as a Perennial Partner and very grateful to have their support, both financially through this scheme and through their ongoing promotion of the charity and what it is there to provide for anyone working in the horticulture sector. We are looking forward to working closely with them over the next twelve months.”
