  • Description

    Leaf blowers are used by many professionals within the land-based sector. For anyone who needs to remove debris, dead leaves, wood chip etc from an area. So those employed in grounds maintenance, landscaping, arborists, forestry, railways, councils, highways.

    They are also becoming an invaluable tool to gamekeepers for controlling the flames during heather burning, less intensive on the body and an ability to control the flames far more effectively.

    Handheld or backpack versions available this qualification covers them both, ensuring your keeping in line with health and safety legislation in particular PUWER regulations.

    This course is being part funded through the Stories in Stone project. Half a day integrated training and assessment covering pre use checks, maintenance and safe use. Ideal for those in industries such as horticultural, landscaping, grounds maintenance sectors. 

    Learning outcomes:

    By the end of the course you should be able to:

    1. Know how to carry out a risk assessment.
    2. Know the current health and safety legislation and environmental good practice that underpins leaf blower operations.
    3. Know the appropriate PPE for the use of the leaf blower.
    4. Demonstrate how to check and maintain the leaf blower.
    5. Demonstrate how to operate a leaf blower.
    6. Know how to carry out post-operative checks.
    7. Know how to clean and appropriately store a leaf blower.

    Equipment: 

    You will require:
    1) Coveralls.
    2) Safety footwear.
    3) Gloves.
    4) Helmet with visor and ear defenders.

    The rest of the equipment will be provided by Lowe Maintenance.
