Welcome to Yorkshire 2018
The stunning Yorkshire Dales was the inspiration for Welcome to Yorkshire’s 2018 RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold medal-winning show garden. The garden celebrated Yorkshire’s plentiful natural materials, traditional crafts and skilled artisan food production.
The sights, smells and tastes of this world renowned national park were on display in the capital. The area is famous for its Wensleydale cheese, quintessential buttercup meadows and iconic dry stone walls – all of which were authentically recreated to showcase Yorkshire’s beauty on the world stage.
The walls were crafted from genuine Yorkshire stone on loan from the Bolton Estate, stunning woodland, lush pastures, varied plants and flowers, a cultivated cottage garden, and a tumbling beck with dramatic fast flowing water. Taking pride of place in the garden was a stone bothy which was converted into a craftsman’s creamery where genuine artisan cheese production took place.
Mark Gregory - Managing Director – BALI Registered Contractor Landform Consultants
Marking 30 years at the greatest flower show on earth was a significant moment for Mark and what better way to celebrate than with a return to designing a garden for the place that shaped him as a person. Mark wanted to recreate the magnificence of Yorkshire's wild landscape, that truly deserved to be seen and appreciated by the wider world.
After a smooth build for Mark and his team they were thrilled to receive not only an RHS Gold medal but also the Best Construction and The People’s Choice Award accolades. A truly outstanding achievement.
